Protagonist of a famous plot which wreaked havoc on it, Fieschis’ castle overlooks from the high the village of Montoggio. In Middle Ages it was an unconquerable castle; today, thanks to a careful work of recycling, it is again perfectly usable and can tell all its illustrious past

A careful work of recycling has replaced its castle to the village of Montoggio. This medieval castle became mansion of the important family of the Fieschis’ and for years it was in the middle of the struggles for powerful among great Genoese families, struggles made of heroic leaders, sieges and great plots. And it is just following one of these plots that the fortified site, about in the middle of the 16th century, was almost completely destroyed.

Today, thanks to the European financings of the asse 4 del Por Fesr 2007-2013, just there where only the ruins of this illustrious past remain, it was realized an archaeological and environmental park which has made the area perfectly usable and able to house cultural and recreational public performances.

Liguria Heritage project gives renown to the asset, also thanks to the use of the most advanced technology. Fieschis’ castle is, in fact, one of the four goods that take advantage from the increased reality, an application that leads here the visitors to the picturesque reconstruction of an emblematic destruction in siege history. It is a bilingual App for smartphone and tablet which allows to plunge into the past and to live these events in the place where they happened, through the voices and the features of the personalities who lived it as protagonists.
