The great defensive works in the province of Genoa

The walls of Genoa, with its forts and defensive structures, one of the most imposing European systems against enemy invasions. Then there is Geremia Fort, a strategic fortress along the Apennine ridge, or the anti-aircraft batteries of Camogli. A concentration of military history in a few kilometres, which testifies to the evolution of warfare through the transition from the eighteenth-century walls to the forts and to the shooting positions on the Mount of Portofino.

The Development of the natural and cultural resources of Liguria project (Level 4 of Por Fesr 2007-2013) permits the recovery of these buildings for educational tourism and hospitality purposes, not to mention the restoration of the historic aqueduct of Genoa, an engineering work unparalleled in Italy.
Liguria Heritage will guide you through the written history of these sites.
